If you are going to comment, please talk about the content of the post and not about your website, just to bring up your ranking in search engines. Those comments will be deleted. My book blog is about books, authors, publishing, MY Writing Business and/or Books/Novels/Writing and whatever I choose to blog about.
Also, i’ve noticed alot of searches for www.thetechgadget.com and www.encouragehealthyhabits.com. These were blogs I had for years but due to lack of advertisers/incoming money, I removed them, being unable to afford hosting fees. I’ve always said, if someone can figure out the free hosting sites, i’ll be glad to put them back up.
Thank you for understanding.

Per Amazon, This is book 3 of 3 in A Skeleton In God’s Closet Series. It is preceeded by More Than a Skeleton and A Skeleton in God’s Closet.
Having read a ton of books over my life, there are different levels or formats of writing. There is low-brow, high-brow and the like. This falls somewhere in the middle, as Dr. Maier has a Ph.D. and the writing is simple if not clunky. I imagine his editors, publishers, agents asked him to write a lower standard of English. It’s not that it takes away from the reading, it’s that it’s noticeable, especially for a Doctor.
For the plot, from Amazon:
Harvard Professor Jonathan Weber is finally enjoying a season of peace when a shocking discovery thrusts him into the national spotlight once again. While touring monasteries in Greece, Jon and his wife Shannon—a seasoned archaeologist—uncover an ancient biblical manuscript containing the lost ending of Mark and an additional book of the Bible. If proven authentic, the codex could forever change the way the world views the holy Word of God. As Jon and Shannon work to validate their find, it soon becomes clear that there are powerful forces who don’t want the codex to go public. When it’s stolen en route to America, Jon and Shannon are swept into a deadly race to find the manuscript and confirm its authenticity before it’s lost forever.
My take:
Ingenious plot, if not a bit fantastical, but ‘lost books of the bible’ fictional accounts are. You have to suspend a bit of belief, as I do whenever I read a similar story, and let yourself go in the story, the people and the places.
Paul does a great job creating characters and places. You feel that the Drs. Weber could be actual professors but their reaction to the fatwa aren’t as ‘worried’ as they should be. He has death threats against him and he just feels a bit too blase. Maybe that’s discussed in the earlier two books, having not read them, I can only conclude what is presented in “The Constantine Codex”.
The villains are a bit too cartoonish, as villains go. Working behind the scenes, creating disharmony and discord is a bit much. Paul’s presentation of Islam and Muslim beliefs, nations and characters are handled with care and it just fits in the plot.
Overall, the book is enjoyable, a great weekend read and the visuals he creates of the middle east are fantastic.

I know it’s Wednesday, but I moved over the past week and i’m a bit behind. Please enjoy this review.
Kate’s previous book, Sepulchre, was a great read and her writing style reminds me of Dickens. She doesn’t shy away from using different ‘hooks’, such as ghosts.
Many reviewers are turned off by any stretch of the paranormal, but I believe they can be used without being tacky.
Kate uses them but doesn’t beat us over the head as some are wont to do.
In “The Winter Ghosts”, we meet Freddie Watson, who loses not only his brother to WWI but himself as well, on his way to a rare book dealer whom Freddie wishes to hear a translation of a letter he found.
It came about during travels in France and a tucked away village for whom time seemed to have stood still. He arrived during a festival, somewhat of a “Dia de la Muerte”, where you celebrate those that have passed. It is there Freddie meets and falls for Fabrissa, a wisp of a woman who relates her own sad tale and that of her beloved town.
One cannot help but be moved by Kate Mosse’s novel. “The Winter Ghosts” is an easy to read, lyric novel that winds itself around your mind.

Synopsis from Amazon.com:
The Austins have settled back into their beloved home in the country after more than a year away. Though they had all missed the predictability and security of life in Thornhill, Vicky Austin is discovering that slipping back into her old life isn’t easy. She’s been changed by life in New York City and her travels around the country, while her old friends seem to have stayed the same. So Vicky finds herself spending time with a new friend, Serena Eddington – the great-aunt of a boy Vicky met over the summer.
Aunt Serena gives Vicky an incredible birthday gift – a month-long trip to Antarctica. It’s the opportunity of a lifetime. But Vicky is nervous. She’s never been away from her family before.
Once she sets off though, she finds that’s the least of her worries. She receives threatening letters. She’s surrounded by suspicious characters. Vicky no longer knows who to trust. And she may not make it home alive.
My Notes:
Madeleine L’Engle is my favorite author of all time. I first read her ‘Wrinkle in Time” series then found one of her Adult novels, “A Severed Wasp”–my all time favorite book.
In this Young Adult book, part of a series following the Austin Family, she creates a loving, close-knit group of people, both in and out of the family. The characters are fully realized, the parents somewhat two-dimensional but Aunt Serena, Vicky and the ensuing cast are fleshed out for the duration of a mystifying trip that almost claims young Vicky’s life.
Over the weekend, I’ve made some great contacts at some small publishers to review EBooks occasionally.
Since I’ve been doing book reviews for a few years now, I’ve lined up some accounts to review EBooks in the fiction and science fiction genres. I’m very excited as these are fresh and invigorating Authors!
In the past, I’ve reviewed anything from books on disease and disability, non-fiction, all genres of fiction as well as a few science fiction books and novels. How I try to review, is I do a recap of the book/novel, then the characters and finally settings. If anything jumps out at me in particular, I am sure to bring that to the front.
Every Author has an unique perspective or hook in their work. It’s exciting to read how they explore their own worlds that they create. I can only hope that’s how people read my books.
