Social Media is a Fickle Thing

Online Social Media is touted as the ‘end-all-be-all’ for small businesses, writers and authors. We’re supposed to join twitter, facebook, linkedin and hundreds of other outlets in order to gain hundreds of thousands of buyers in a short amount of time.

Or the self-advertising media monsters inform us.

Seems to me, the most aggressive followers I have across all brands are marketers who want my money. Oh, they all offer the best software (legal or otherwise) that ‘guarantees” me followers. For just $……..

I write, I blog, I post. Sometimes, I whine, just because I can. They’re my blogs, books and sites, afterall. I can do what I want.

I also get well-meaning comments like “why aren’t you monetizing? Well, darling, I am. I’m using what 99% of what’s available to everyone and their dogs to monetize, google adsense. What i’d like is big brand name advertisers and backers for all 4 blogs and 2 websites. Not likely to happen. I don’t have hundreds of thousands of followers, nor do I have big name celebrities touting my sites, books and blogs.

Social Media also places limits on what you can and cannot do. Sometimes that’s a good thing. It helps keep and restore order. Sometimes it stifles growth and change.

Big Pressure

Headache, whether from deadlines or sinus pressure, sure isn’ t fun.

Need to keep working on the second book, while marketing the first, keep up the daily posts on four blogs, try to figure out coding for the new website and twist my noggin around google adsense on the blogs (it’s there, it just isn’t picking up over on adsense). On top of that, my head is busting from either sinus pressure or a blossoming cold, which, I picked up either at the gym, grocery store or coffee cafe.

So, what did I do? Like any good writer worth his or her salt, I posted on the other three blogs this morning, picked up some cat food for the boys and played farmville this afternoon while bundled up in cap, scarf and 2 layers of clothes.

The “Great Computer Circuit” in the World Wide Web fixed the name issue with my health blog, www.encouragehealthyhabits.com ! The site address and name now match! TY to whomever you are! Now those hits and traffic will just SKYROCKET! ;)

Onto other backend news. Apparently, Im less of a tech person than I thought. In the throes of wanting Google’s Adsense/Analytics to match up, I errantly changed the nameserves on the health and tech blogs. Ah well. So, I reversed my actions and am no closer to getting Goog’s adsense to read the ads on the aforementioned blogs.

Still no closer to getting the Novel/Book website up for Aside of Murder (for sale here, btw). I do know that im going to remove the parking page that I was going to develop the webpage from and instead use another wordpress format webpage. I’ve just got to find where I put the code.
